A History of Local Service

For years, ACI Chapters have been meeting the concrete information needs of local

concrete practitioners. From only one chapter in 1959 to total of 89 in 28 countries

worldwide today, Chapters continue to bridge the technology gap between the local

concrete construction market and ACI International. ACI Chapters offer unique

opportunities to learn more about your industry.

Networking

Many Chapter members say that the most important benefit realized from

membership in a local ACI Chapter is the opportunity to rub shoulders with

leading-edge practitioners in their own market area. From engineers to product

suppliers, almost every discipline in concrete construction can be seen at a chapter

meeting or event. Chapters often host events that allow you to meet world-renown

experts in design, construction, materials, and standards development.

And things are not always strictly business! Many Chapters hold social events

including golf outings, picnics, and seasonal parties. Chapters also sponsor

construction awards competitions in their local markets.

Education

All ACI Chapters are eligible to conduct educational seminars - either on their own

or in conjunction with ACI International. Need to know more about the latest

admixtures for concrete or how to properly construct a slab-on-grade? Your local

chapter can present a seminar that holds the answers. Local Chapter members can

often attend at a reduced registration fee. Join a Chapter and lend your expertise to

the group.

Certification

What about Certification training and examinations? Have you acquired expertise

that you can share through a training session? Numerous chapters are authorized

to conduct the various certification programs offered through ACI and can use your

assistance. In fact, certification activities significantly affect the viability of some

Chapters, allowing them to positively impact their market area by sponsoring

students and many other worthwhile activities.

Information

Chapters receive all current ACI technical and educational documents to

supplement their libraries. This valuable resource is available to Chapter members

at no charge. Need to look at a copy of the latest ACI Building Code? It’s there

and available to you! And don’t forget that seasoned speakers are often featured

at Chapter meetings. This can be a valuable source of new information on a wide

variety of technical and practical topics. Field trips give access to some of the areas

most interesting construction projects.

Recognition

Your peers in concrete construction are probably already members of one or more

ACI Chapter. Join them and be recognized as someone committed to improving

concrete construction in your area by joining a local Chapter. Help with training

and education programs, awards dinners, certification exams, and social events.
